The Deltic railway locomotive holds an obscure world record. Though long since withdrawn from service, it's record has never been broken, to date. What is the specific record held by the Deltic?

Hauled the fastest East coast main line service London to Edinburgh until its displacement by the HST

'Deltic' locomotive was used in regular service for nearly 30 years, mostly along the East Coast line between London Kings Cross and Scotland.

Deltic Engines also hauled the fastest trains in Britain at their top operating speed of 100mph and remained in service until being displaced by the High Speed Train in the late 1970s.
