Question:

British Royal Family question?

We had the newstory here in the States about Princes William and Harry taking a helicopter to go to a bachelor party. I was surprised that none of the articles included a mention of this: are the two brothers (both heirs to the British throne) allowed to travel together via airplane, helicopter, any sort of vehicle? Isn't there any prohibition relating to their traveling together on the same conveyance due to the chance of a horrible mishap?

  1. There are no prohibitions restricting which British royal member can and cannot travel together. While the two princes were growing up, they used to travel together all the time as a family along with the late Diana, Princess of Wales, and The Prince Charles.

In March 1998 Prince William and Prince Harry accompanied The Prince of Wales to Vancouver, Canada where they carried out brief public engagements and spent time skiing in Whistler. In the summer of 1998, Prince Harry accompanied his father to France to watch England play in a World Cup football match.

On 2nd January 2000, Prince Harry and Prince William accompanied The Prince of Wales on a visit to Cardiff. They listened to hymns and readings in Welsh and English and joined 60,000 people for a special edition of the BBC’s Songs of Praise at the Millennium Stadium.

  2. Harry was not with William during his helicopter touchdown at Kate's homestead.  To answer your query, only the holder of the throne and the heir to the throne may not fly together.

  3. No, their father, Charles, is next in line to the throne anyways. The royal family travel together all the time.
