British Royalty?

Question

Why do female members of the British Royal family wear such silly-looking hats? Is it tradition, or it is considered classy and fashionable? Fill me in.

It's fashion;sometimes they do make errors in judgment,though.But I quite liked Eugenie's hat! I've seen much worse concoctions and I WEAR hats so I pay attention to what other women wear.
