  1. american system is

    kindergarden (somewhat optional)

    1st grade

    2nd grade

    3rd grade

    4th grade

    5th grade

    6th grade (elementary school)

    7th grade

    11th grade (junior)

    12th grade (senior) (high school)

    you'd be  sophomore in highschool

  2. Year 11 in Britain would be Year 10 in America.

    Quite simple actually.

    University- College

    Upper Sixth- Year 12

    And so forth downwards.

Year 10 is known as the sophomore year in America.

I have completed this year level and will be moving forward to Lower Sixth, or my Junior year, depending if you are American or English.

I'm actually Australia, we just call it Grade 11, and Finish in Grade 12.

  3. In America, you usually have preschool first. Then I think it's roughly equivalent -- we used to be more similar, but now we've largely changed it to this:

    Kindergarten

    First Grade

    Second Grade

    Third Grade

    Fourth Grade

    Fifth Grade (Elementary School)

    Sixth Grade

    Seventh Grade

    Eighth Grade (Middle School/Junior High)

    Ninth Grade/Freshman

    Tenth Grade/Sophomore

    Eleventh Grade/Junior

    Twelfth Grade/Senior (High School)

    Uni

And sometimes before Kindergarten, Pre-K, but that's often lumped in with preschool.

  4. Grade 10 usually. Depends on your age though.
