British Sitting Volleyball Captain Emma Wiggis speaks about Paralympic Spot – Volleyball news
The fourteenth edition of Paralympics is supposed to be held in London this year. The international competition will take place from August 29 to September 2012.
There will be a number of games featured in the Olympics, while the Sitting Volleyball will also be on the list as an important entity of the event.
The teams for the competition are yet to decided. The Great Britain Paralympics is the governing authority to decide that which teams will be on board to compete in the biggest sports gala for the disable athletes of the world.
The participation of home nation in the Sitting Volleyball competition is still under the question mark. The Paralympics GB is due to come to a decision in March if GB team has done well enough to earn a place among the best teams in the world at the 2012
Games.
The captain of the GB Sitting Volleyball squad Emma Wiggis is keeping her fingers crossed that her team will get the chance to play in the Olympics.
The English worked out good performance in the year 2011 and did well at the Sitting Volleyball Continental Cup in Ukraine, where they finished 6th.
Likewise, the team appeared in various other national and international competitions. Wiggs and other players of the GB Sitting Volleyball are eying a spot in the Olympics.
The determined Wiggs is confident to hit the spot during the 2012 Paralympics. In this connection, she stated, “We have been given extra times to prove we’re worth a spot and it will be based on team performances, team progress and personal progress, and
we believe we have shown a lot of improvement over time as individuals and a squad.”
She further added that if the Great Britain team will get the chance to play at the 2012 Paralympics, the team will prove its endeavours. She said that they are familiar with all the best teams in the world such as Brazil, China, United States, Russia, Ukraine
and Holland, and it would be not a difficult task for GB ‘force’ to overcome the visitors.
Wiggs especially emphasised the very fact that GB team will be playing with the support of local fans. The home crowd will definitely help them put on a better show of volleyball.
