I was wondering what some common British slang words are. Phrases would be wonderful too, what friends say among each other. Thanks :)

  1. chuffed = very happy

    ace = brilliant

    **** about face = back to front

    barmy = crazy

    belt up = shut up

    biggie = what a child calls his 'poo'

    bladdered = drunk

    blatant = obvious

    bonk = to have s*x

    bottle = to have courage and bravery

    brassed off = fed up/pissed off

    box your ears = slap around the ears

    cheerio = goodbye

    chin wag = chat

    chinese wispers = how a story changes as it's told by person to person

    c**k up = mistake

    dekko = to have a look at something

    dicky = feel sick

    dodgy = not to be trusted

    duff = useless

    faff = to play around/misbehave

    f*g = cigarette

    flog = to sell something

  3. there are some really odd phrases here lol

    i've got a bone to pick with you - i need to talk to you about something

    they see through rose tinted spectacles - never notice the badness going on around them

    the last straw - the final thing to push someone over the edge

    just the tip of the ice berg - only the beginning of something far more problematic

    there's loads more

  4. My favourite (notice the British spelling there) is alcopop, which is an alcoholic drink which is easy to drink, like a Smirnoff Ice or Strawberry Daiquiri.  

  5. "mate" for friend

    "gob" for face

    "a bit of the all right" = something is wonderful (usually used in the sense of understatement: a girl has three orgasms one after the other)

  6. Gob - Mouth

    Cuppa - Cup Of Tea

    6 of one and half a dozen of the other - Basically both sides are as bad as each other

    punch-up - fight

    Bloody h**l - An exclamation of annoyance or anger

    Fish supper - fish and chips

    Cobbled together - Built or madeup in a hurry

    Long as a peice of string - As long as it takes

    Knackered - outlived its usefullness
