  1. I've never heard people mocking British accents; on the other hand I've only ever seen people saying they like them.  But you're right about the bad teeth remarks, I don't understand where that came from at all.  I'm not even British (I'm from Ireland), but I still want to jump to your defence when I see Americans making those kinds of comments.

  2. YEAH! lol....all i could think of in response....coz im english :)

  3. I love an educated British accent eg David Attenborough. I could listen to that man talk for ours.

Two minutes of Jamie Oliver though, and I have to turn off the TV.

And yes, I hate American accents. Rude and uneducated. Don't worry about it. Americans are just jealous, because they know that the United Kingdom is still the greatest civilised culture on earth, and they will never come close.

To the person who answered above me though:-

G'day mate is an Australian marketing ploy. No-one actually says that here.

And the best actors in America are Australian  ie Heath Ledger, Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Eric Bana - Just to name a few.

Mellow, how can you boast about owning Paris Hilton or Michael Jackson???!! And if it wasn't for Europe and British exploration, you wouldn't exist.

But do keep going, just more proof for the rest of us that America has an appalling education system.

Yes, definitely not a country I would want to visit. GWB gives me the heeby geebies. And Australia does have THE best looking, most educated, amazing leader in the world KEVIN!

  4. I visited England for the first time this past May.  We stayed in the Peak District, but toured all around the area.  All of the accents we heard were great!  I'm from British decent, but a native Yank  - but I'm with a few of you who would LOVE to have a British accent. :-)  As an Appalachian American, I can completely understand the bias against accents.  If I fully express my accent, some people automatically dock my IQ about 20 points....just because of the way I speak.  It's not a pretty thing, but it happens.  I'd expect though, the majority love the British accent.  I can't say the same thing about Appalachian.

  5. I have never said that the British accent is horrible. I personally think it is awesome and I would love to have one. I have relatives from Great Britain so I try to be nice about the way they speak. Your guys' english is more modern than the U.S.A. We tend to talk more like people did in the 17th century. You guys' also have different slang than us and a lot of people don't understand it. So they make fun of it because they don't get it. But your are right it is rude to make say someone speaks horrible.

  6. Honestly, I looove your accent & how I wish I would learn to speak that way.  I like it more than the American accent.

Just ignore those people who criticized you for saying things like that.  They're juz too ignorant & their pride goes nowhere.  They need to admit it that they too have been colonized by Europe just like Asians, Africans & Latin Americans.  Also Americans have to admit that they're not originally white people & that what they practice now originated from the British people.

FYI also, about 90% of American English are grammatically incorrect (Majority of Americans need to admit this).  That's why I hate it when they insult other races most especially us Hispanics whenever they encounter one that speaks poor english.  In fact I answered one Q here in yahoo that is related to racism on mexicans wherein the asker say insulting things on mexicans (they need to study english, their people are ugly, etc.) & I just reverted the insult back to him. I said, before you insult other people, see to it that your english grammar is correct.

  7. Mellow K is the reason we have words like t**t.

Anyways most Americans love the British accent. They are of course more use to their own

Britain is more civil than the US because we don't practice capital punishment or have a public and police force which bear arms

Britain is not race sensitive as the US

Your official language is English you managed to remix it and create unnecessary words from God knows where.

You forgot to say Britain invented what is now the USA

You start wars you cant finish buy houses you cant afford!

    Eat more than is needed

British accents are proper all of them

  8. No real problem is there?  You point out that 'some people' or 'a few people' are rude.  If everyone you came across was rude about it then there'd be a problem.  If it's not your accent it's something else that these people would pick on.  I find some accents are difficult to understand, but that makes them interesting to me.  Those rude people are just miserable sacks of sh** who usually 'couldn't string more than two words together to save their useless lives' (as my friend Dom used to say).  It's hard to ignore an insult but in your heart you know it's nonsense and not worth losing any sleep over.
