British born or british citizen?

if you have a british citizenship but you're not born in the uk

does that still make you british?

same goes for american citizenship too.

please explain this.

  1. most countries do not allow dual citizenship, but does offer a lengthy application process for this in special circumstances.

    this would be due to taxation, voting, military service, federal aid, etc.


  2. If you mean in both cases that you have settled in the UK or US applied for and after the requisite formalities been granted Citizenship of either country then the answer is "Yes" for both instances and it really is self explanatory.

  3. British citizenship is acquired even if not born in UK and it is same as having been born thereat.
