  1. Did you buy a lottery ticket here in the UK? If not, its a scam.

Its a scam anyhow - they don't email you!

  2. It is a scam

I have recieved numerous emails stating that I won the british lottery...

do not click any links that is in those emails.

those links will ask for your personal information or steal your personal information through cookie grabbers

  3. This is a SCAM. The below links confirm various email scams hitting the internet. There is also an online form for the reporting of such - (with links for your own country.)

Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Please remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace.

  4. did you do this lottery?no and if you did not why would someone want to send £550,000.because it is a massive scammmmmmmmm.delete it.

  5. it is a scam.

first, lottery is something you buy/participate in. its not something they pick you to randomly win.

second, no lottery goes looking for the winner. because they don't know how he/she is. you buy a ticket, none of your information is taken. so they don't know who purchased the ticket.

the way it works is that they tell you won and they will try to get any or all of the following information.

Your personal information (for identity theft)

Your bank account informations (to steal your money)

or they will tell you that you need to pay the taxes on the winnings before they can pay you the money (so you send them a check/payment and they keep your money and you get nothing)

if you ever win a prize, unless it is something physical (like a car, etc) they will deduct the taxes from your winnings. otherwise they just make you fill out a tax form to alert the IRS that you won something and they will have you pay the money.

  6. If you didn't enter you can't win, it's a SCAM.

  7. Scam - No such thing as a free lunch
