How can they sleep at night knowing how many people are stuggling to pay their bills just so the big wigs can have a new company car.

It`s a big brother thing!

They know that us lemmings all plugged into their services ,eg, gas ,oil, bt,electric,  fuel for cars,we are powerless to live without them so they can do what the h**l they want and we got to pay or go cold,and don`t drive.

If we brought back horse travel someone would nationalize hay and straw and tax horse manure!

They got us by the balls and they know it!

They will come out with some excuse like running out or low supplies NO, they just creaming it in.

No wonder Mr Bush went off to explore different oil rich areas, the U S don`t pay a quater of what we do.

Ah well ,i`m off to buy a wood burner,i`m surrounded by miles of old trees, better use them before they are taxed

Switch to another company in protest, they are a joke. They probably made most of that profit from the extortionate rates they charge people to phone their call-centres, and keep you on hold for an hour.

Yahoo Answers is not the place to raise this question, still I have raised one here too. Where is the Bulldog spirit  of the British gone. I'll tell you where, we have turned into toothless toy poodles, with no bark. The last occation the British  felt that they should get of their ***'es and DO something was when Maggie Thatcher introduced the "Poll Tax." . The MD of British gas knows that, and is confident we will simply pay up. Will we?  my suggestion, get off your backside, get out on the streets, do not accept this extortionism, by people who regard you as an idiot, while they enjoy the free luxurious life, OBJECT.........I will join you.

Yup i agree that the profits companys make are huge but i was just wondering if energy companys didnt raise prices and used what profit they make to ship gas into the UK, stop investing in alternative energy sources, use up all the funds they have to compete with Asia for fuel (who dont seem to care how much they pay for it as long as they get it) how long before those companys shut down and supplys get cut off.

Although i have the advantage of seeing what energy companys do with alot of the money they gain (not saying i agree with alot of it) i still believe that we should just have one company for gas and one for electric as it  A: Would stop people being duped by door to door salesman and online switching sites that are payed to say what they say, and most of the time has nothing to do with what deal is best. B: Because it would mean the paper government would have just two companys to deal with instead of a bunch of foreign buisnesses who care nothing for peoples well being

All the big companys are jumping on the badwagon making sure they get a large share of any price rises going.Sure,prices have to rise but the sheer greed of these "grabbit all"firms make me sick,they don,t give a d**n about us,their customers.

This is the UK where the customers are just as bigger tossers as British Gas are and will pay it... besides a little moaning. There won't be a revolution, they'll accept it like the good stiff upper lip citizens they are. Next year they'll bring the price down by 5%, everyone will be happy and forget that it's still 30% higher than it was.

Quite frankly..it just makes me want to move abroad. We live in a society designed to take every single last penny off you. This isn't what I work for. People should be getting very angry and doing something about it. If 'everyone' just refused to pay it... it couldn't happen.
