it's been a lifetime ambition of mine to live in the U.S for a period of time. i'm still rather young so it'll be some time before i would consider moving from the UK to the US, but I'd like to know now, should I forget about it or could it be a realistic target? what i mean is, would it be hard for me to get along with americans since i would technically be a foreigner moving in and to be unwelcome? and what city/state would benefit me the most?

  1. Get your @$$ over here now! you are missing the party! woo hoo!

Seriously, it's a good thing over here.

  2. Start by visiting Maryland and find yourself some american friends. Do talk about it, be about it. After finding the friends the rest is easy. I can't say too much why, use your common sense.

  3. If you came here legally I don't think you would have any problems with Americans. You sound like a decent person so I'm sure you'd get a job or go to school and be able to take care of yourself. It would be a great experience for you too see our culture I think. LOL..you'd probably be shocked by us LOUD American's!

I'm not sure what city would be the best for you. That depends on what you want to see I guess. Good Luck!

  4. stay in europe. americans have no free health care, the meds are expensive.

and you want an american dream? I guess tv brainwashed you that usa is the greatest place on earth. I'm wondering what makes it the greatest. its a violent country, look at kids going on a shooting spree in malls and schools. internet and computers were invented in wars.

  5. No, you shouldn't forget about it.  There are several ways to legally move here particularly for a short time.  Consider studying here...that's probably the easiest route.  If you have a profession that is sought after like teaching, nursing, IT, engineering, that will make it easier to find a firm that might be willing to hire you and bring you to the US.

  6. totally come to america! i love foreigners. just make sure you do it legally. that could get you into some trouble if you don't. but it shouldn't be a problem. good luck! and its one of my ambitions to live abroad too.

  7. You can get in   by only a few ways unless you are ubber rich. Marriage, family sponsorship. study permit, work via work permit or have a skill or degree that is needed, ie dr, etc.

We welcome all legal immigrants. Pay no attention to the illegal talk, it is mainly directed at the gazillions of mexicans. the UK is one of our best allies and most americans love our Uk allies.

is info from the us immg agency on how to get a green card or perm residency.

  8. I'm the opposite of you -as I feel I would rather be in the U.K. than here -not that I'm not patriotic- I was born here, etc.. I just feel more affiinity w/the Brits than I do Americans, and it's been that way most of my life.. I think things are different in many ways, though I tend to believe that my countrymen aren't as polite/ affable as they could be to those w/accents; seems they prefer those who don't speak English at all -we should really give a preference for those who speak our native tongue, which is English).  As for a city, I would suggest anywhere in 'New England' or Northern CA (I lived there & there seems to be a lot of brits on the SF Bay peninsula San Jose, Palo Alto, SF  for some reason). We're quite used to those coming here illegally, so someone like you should be welcome w/open arms..!
