British middleweight Ryan Aston wins debut bout against Iain Jackson – Boxing news
The British national Middleweight contender Ryan Aston successfully won his first-ever professional bout against compatriot Iain Jackson in their four-round competitive bout on June 25, 2011 at the Hillsborough Leisure Centre in Sheffield, United Kingdom.
The Southpaw stance Aston won a points decision against Jackson.
Aston claimed every round of his four-round crown against Jackson on Saturday night in Sheffield. Aston joined WBA heavyweight champion, David Haye to prepare for this competition. The referee, Marcus McDonnell rated the fight as 40-36 in favour of Aston.
The former IBF World Cruiserweight Champion, Glenn McCrory, praised Aston on his impressive four-round debut victory.
While speaking to the press McCrory said, “(Aston) looks the part, has fast hands and definitely has potential.”
Aston was told to avoid being injured during the fight if he really wants to travel to Germany after this competition.
Aston said, “That wasn’t at the back of my mind, it was at the front of my mind. I was given the chance to box on the same bill as the fight of the decade and was determined not to blow it. I knew I couldn’t afford to get cut or bruised and maybe that’s
why I felt a bit sluggish in there. I should have stuck to my boxing, but I was trying to please the crowd.”
He tried to put pressure on Jackson from the very beginning to take the bout away from him. He displayed excellent footwork, fast hand speed and great punching power against Jackson as the fight went through the final rounds. Jackson was not looking so quick
with his hands, however, he did smart work with his feet to avoid injury.
In the last round, Aston caught Jackson around the ring and delivered a right-left combination of punches to his body and head to win the bout.
It was Jackson’s fourth loss in his professional career. Jackson has never been able to win a single bout against anyone in his career. Hopefully, Jackson will try to learn from his past mistakes in an effort to stay active professionally and Aston will
continue winning with the same passion for the rest of his future challenges.
