I watch a British show here in the states, and sometimes they say "Pounds" and other times they say "quid". What is the difference??

  1. Quid is just slang for pounds, I don't know the origins of where quid comes from but the answer to your question is that there is no difference.

  2. "Quid" is slang.

The slang money expression 'quid' seems first to have appeared in late 1600s England, derived from Latin (quid meaning 'what', as in 'quid pro quo' - 'something for something else').

In the US you have the same principle with Dollars and "bucks".

  3. They're the same thing, quid is slang for a pound
