British players leading the Ladies British Masters
The first round of the ISPS Handa Ladies British Masters brought great news for English golf fans. The top three positions went to the English players, who played a great game at the Buckinghamshire Golf Club.
Henrietta Zuel, Lydia Hall and Laura Davies, each scored 66 points in the first round of the event.
Henrietta Zuel started the tournament with a birdie. This is a great sign and she is expected to repeat this performance throughout the tournament.
On the second hole, she scored another birdie. The next three holes were on par. On the sixth hole, Zuel scored another birdie and repeated this on the eighth hole as well.
She started the back nine with a birdie on the tenth hole. Things were going great for Zuel until the 13th hole, where she dropped a bogey.
This momentary hitch was corrected on the next hole where she shot a birdie. Finishing the round in style, Zuel scored a birdie on the final hole.
Lydia Hall, the Welsh golfer, played a similar game. She also scored a birdie on the first hole and repeated this performance on the third hole. It was smooth sailing for Hall from then onwards. She finished the front nine with a birdie, bringing her total
count of birdies to three.
The back nine were not so kind to Hall. She opened up with a bogey on the 10th hole. However, she recovered very well from this hole and shot a birdie on the 12th hole.
Another birdie on the 14th hole brought the total birdies to five. Hall finished the round with two birdies on holes 17 and 18.
Laura Davies kicked off in a similar fashion with a birdie on the first hole. She played par at the next three holes and shot another birdie on the fifth hole. The front nine ended with a birdie on the ninth hole.
Davies started the back nine with a birdie on the tenth hole. She again scored one on the 12th hole and another one on the 14th. Things looked bad on the 16th hole where she shot a bogey. However, a birdie on the next hole
offset this loss.
These three players have played a magnificent game in the first round. The fans hope that this form will continue throughout the tournament.
