British pounder Kell Brook takes on American Carson Jones most probably in next bout – Boxing News
Kell Brook, the current WBA Inter-Continental and IBF International welterweight champion, will most probably be scheduled take on American Carson Jones, the current USBA welterweight champion, in a 12-round bout which will be held on July 7, 2012.
The announcement was made by ESPN’s famous boxing analyst Dan Rafael. In his twitter message, Dan revealed that Brook’s promoter, Eddie Hearn was unable to get a high profile top-notch brawler in his recent tour to different parts of the world and therefore
Carson was the only pugilist available who has showed consent on taking the bout.
The news is still needed to be confirmed from the promoters and the bout-makers but at the moment, the critics are not happy at all since they were expecting something better for Kell.
Brook, 26, is a surging Briton who has taken the whole welterweight division by fire and proudly resides at the fifth rank in the world rankings. The young lad has been in a total 27 bouts and emerged victorious in all.
In addition, Kell, also known as ‘The Special One’, has nailed 18 of his total opponents by knockout and has obliterated even the best names in the division. The undefeated champ possesses all the abilities of colliding names such as Paulie Malignaggi, Marcos
Maidana and Zab Judah but since he does not have the requisite resume and has not fought a heavily intimidating opponent, he is being ignored almost completely.
Brook recently defended his titles against Matthew Hatton and collected an impressive unanimous decision in his favour with a huge margin. Carson, 25, on the other hand, has been in a total 46 bouts and boasts 34 wins with 24 by knockout.
As far as the experience is concerned, the American proud has a clear upper hand but for Kell it will be a piece of cake since he has beaten two men possessing more experience than Carson, Matthew and Lovemore Ndou.
At the moment, nothing has been finalised and any speculations would certainly be wild guesses but if Carson becomes the final opponent than Kell will only waste his time since he has already proved and has much potential to take on better men than Jones.
The pay-per-view will also witness Kerry Hope defend his newly acquired EBU (European) middleweight title against Grzegorz Proksa hence co-headlining the night. The event is being promoted by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing.
