British professional boxer Danny Hughes coming back to the ring again after a month – Boxing news
The British professional boxer, Danny Hughes is coming back to the ring again this weekend.
Hughes will be fighting an unnamed opponent from overseas in Southampton on Saturday, July 9, 2011.
Danny ‘Boy’ Hughes finished his sparring session with Derek Chisora to prepare for his Southampton fight last week. Derek Chisora is going to face Tyson Fury for the British heavyweight title on July 23.
The Heavyweight contender Hughes’s trainer Tommy Conroy spoke to the press and said, “Danny sparred with Derek and gave him a h**l of a workout. I’m really pleased with the way he’s coming on. He didn’t look out of place in there at all. He was a bit sluggish
in his last fight, which was understandable given how long it was since he last boxed. But he’s looking sharper all the time and I’m looking forward to this weekend’s fight, as is Danny. It’s a case of just trying to hold him back at the moment because he’s
so enthusiastic.”
The 25-year-old Hughes is back to the ring after winning a four-round technical knockout decision against Kreso Bogdanovic on May 26, 2011 at the Pullman Lodge Hotel in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.
Hughes has fought 12 of his total fights of which he won 8 competitive bouts including 3 knockout victories in his professional boxing career. Hughes turned professional after winning a four-round technical knockout decision against Lee Webb in 2007 at the
Stadium of Light in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.
Hughes faced the first loss of his career after winning seven of his consecutive fights. Hughes lost a third-round unanimous points decision against Audley Harrison in 2009 at the ExCel Arena in Dockland, London.
Second loss of Hughes’ career came his way when he lost another third-round points decision fighting against Michael Sprott in 2010 at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, London.
Hopefully, Hughes’ next fight will be more interesting and exciting to watch. He can win this bout if he keeps performing the way he fought last time against Kreso Bogdanovic.
