It's a world-wide phenomenon, taken largely for granted, that handy vehicle, halfway between car and truck. It must surely have dozens of nicknames?

  1. well i call it a car. but i also call it a 4WD hope it helps

  2. I can't believe the 2 responses suggesting the Brits don't call it a pick up - what rubbish, in decades of driving, I've had a Morris Minor, a Morris Marina, Honda TN, Vauxhall & Bedford Rascals, Ford Transit, and they've all been pick ups - it said so on the receipts, handbooks, log books, etc...

A lorry is, oddly enough, a lorry - one of those big things that carry anything from 7.5 tonnes up!

  3. actually Brits don't call it a pick up or at least i have never heard it called that. Lorry, van, truck,

pick up is more an American expression

  4. In America, I think you're talking about a crossover; halfway between a car and an SUV, which is short for Sport Utility Vehicle.

  5. The Brits also call it a "Lorry."

  7. It's called a wawa in Puerto Rico

  8. pickum up, texas cadillac
