Much like two inches of snow is reported as if it's the onset of the next ice age!

  1. I agree with you completely on the snow affair, but I think the reason the quake got so much news coverage is that a lot of people didn't really think it happened. They got woken in the middle of the night for a few seconds, assumed it was a dream and went back to sleep.

  2. Its typical of this country. People blame the media but have a look at the responses on here where everyone wants to know what everyone else was doing at the 'moment it struck'.

Some people in the UK need a severe bite of a reality sandwich.

  3. True.

And a bit of wind becomes a Hurricane, and when it was a sort of Hurricane 1987 they said there wasnt going to be one! Half the trees in Southern England were blown down. LOL.

Mind u when the Tsunami struck 2004 it took them quite a while to get geared up because it was Boxing day and at first it was like very underplayed (I guess they were all on holiday) and then bingo it was worldwide! They were in a complete frenzy.

  4. you have to laugh though don't ya? it was that bad i slept through it

  5. Thats the British Media for you.

  6. If i were the parent of missing girl Shannon Matthews i would be disgusted at the way their daughter has gone from being headline news yesterday to being completely ignored by the news channels today in favour of a small earthquake that didn't even manage to injure a squirrel let alone a human

  7. It was an anomaly that doesn't happen very often, they did mention over and over again that by world wide standards it wasn't very big. At least for five minutes we didn't have to hear on the news some crazy loon shouting Allah Aqba whilst fireing wildly with a machine gun.

  8. i think with the earthquake thing, it is reported like this because it was so sudden, but also, because it isn't something that happens on an everyday basis in this country.
