Britta Steffen captures Women’s 100m freestyle gold – 2013 Indian Ocean Meet
Britta Steffen of Germany captured gold medal of the Women’s 100m freestyle on final day of the 2013 Indian Ocean Meet in St. Paul, Reunion, on Sunday, December 30.
The German swimmer showed no mercy to her opponents in the 100m discipline as she went full rampant in the race for the title. With her commendable pace in the first half, she gained a comfortable lead over her challenger and transpired on the finishing end for gold medal.

The gold medallist was traced by Katinka Hosszu of Hungary, who stayed nearly three body lengths behind and reached the finishing end for silver medal by producing an effort of 55.32 seconds.
Third fastest spot of the race was obtained by Cloe Hache of France, who was nearly full body length behind and stepped on the victory stand for bronze medal by reporting an effort of 56.23 seconds.
The third position holder was chased by Olivia de Maroussem, who was 1.15 seconds slower from overpowering her former finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 57.38 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was secured by Alizie Morel of France, who stayed 0.40 seconds slower from her former finisher and surfaced on the finishing wall by producing an effort of 57.78 seconds.
Morel was followed by Marjorie Hoareau of France, who was 0.26 seconds behind and hit the finishing end for sixth place by touching the wall with the timing of 58.04 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Emma Morel of France, who stayed 0.41 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 58.55 seconds.
Last position of the race was secured by Christelle Bertsch of France, who was 0.33 seconds apart and clocked a time of 58.88 seconds.
In addition, the arena appreciated notable efforts of all participants while the position holders received medals and accolades for their commendable forms at the victory ceremony of the event.
