Britta Steffen occupies Women’s 50m freestyle gold: Day seven – European LC Championships
Britta Steffen of Germany occupied gold medal of the Women’s 50m freestyle on final day of the European Long Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary on Sunday, May 27.
Steffen continued her winning streak on last day of the championship, where she added another gold to her medal tally. With her persistent efforts and utter determination, she remained dominant over her challengers and reached the finishing end for gold medal.
With her epic start, Steffen gained a marginal lead over her challengers and transpired on the finishing end for gold medal with an effort of 24.37 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Hinkelien Schreuder of Netherlands, who stayed 0.41 seconds apart and hit the finishing end for silver medal with the timing of 24.78 seconds.
Third spot of the event was secured by Nery-Mantey Niangkouara of Greece, who remained 0.15 seconds slower from overpowering her foregoing finisher and tapped the finishing blockade with an effort of 24.93 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Triin Aljand of Estonia, who stayed 0.08 seconds slower and hit the finishing end with the timing of 25.01 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth spot of the race was secured by Theodora Drakou of Greece, who remained just an inch slower from her foregoing finisher and posted a time of 25.05 seconds.
Similarly, Drakou was trailed by Sviatlana Khakhlova of Bulgaria, who remained 0.07 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end with the timing of 25.12 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh finest spot of the event was secured by Anna Santamans of France, who stayed just a stroke slower from upsetting her preceding swimmer and submitted a time of 25.26 seconds.
Last spot of the event was secured by Sarah Blake Bateman, who was 0.12 seconds behind and reported a time of 25.38 seconds.
The crowd appreciated commendable efforts of all swimmers in the playoff of the 50m event while the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship. Furthermore, the championship came to an end after the conclusion of all planned events in Men and Women’s category.
