Britta Steffen wins Women’s 200m freestyle gold – 2012 Indian Ocean Meet
Britta Steffen of Germany won gold medal of the Women’s 200m freestyle on opening day of the 2012 Indian Ocean Meet in St. Paul, Reunion, on Friday, December 28.
The German swimmer demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the playoff of the freestyle discipline as she went full rampant in the race and grabbed the title.
With her exceptional pace in the final round, Steffen remained prominently ahead of her closest swimmers and surfaced on the finishing end for gold medal by clocking an effort of 1 minute and 54.66 seconds.
The champion was trailed by Katinka Hosszu of Hungary, who stayed only half a body length behind and transpired on the finishing end for silver medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 55.03 seconds.

Sixth fastest spot of the discipline was secured by Morel’s teammate, Marjorie Hoareau, who was 1.30 seconds slower and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 05.60 seconds.
Hoareau was trailed by Olivia de Maroussem, who stayed 1.55 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing end for seventh place with the timing of 2 minutes and 07.15 seconds.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Jade Chow s**+ Yee of France, who was unable to overpower any of her opponents in the final round and ended eighth in the race by touching the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 08.52 seconds.
In addition, Steffen was overjoyed with her notable form in the race and raked medals after the session.
