Brittany Elmslie seizes Girls 100m freestyle gold: Day six – Australian Age Championships, Brisbane
Brittany Elmslie of Nudgee Brothers seized gold medal of the Girls 100m freestyle in the age group of 17-18 Year Olds on sixth day of the 2012 Australian Age Championships at the Sleeman Sports Complex, Brisbane on Saturday, April 14.
With her persistent efforts in the age group event, Elmslie devastated her opponents by earning gold medal of the event with a timing of 54.67 seconds.
Her title claiming effort remained 0.23 seconds ahead of Emma McKeon of Wests Illawarra, who posted a time of 54.90 seconds for silver medal of the event.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Bronte Campbell of Indooroopilly, who stayed 0.28 seconds slower from her former finisher and appeared on the finishing end with the timing of 55.18 seconds.
The bronze medallist was trailed by Madison Wilson of St Peters Western Swim Club, who stayed 1.14 seconds slower from her and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth position holder by clocking a time of 56.32 seconds.
Meanwhile, Cameron McEvoy of Southport Olympic Swimming Club dictated terms to his challengers in the Boys 17-18 Year Olds 100m freestyle. McEvoy proved his ascendance over his challengers by pocketing gold medal of the event with the timing of 49.01 seconds.
His impeccable effort remained 1.60 seconds ahead of his following swimmer, Andrew Digby, who reached the podium for second position by posting a time of 50.61 seconds.
Digby was trailed by Nathaniel Romeo of Trinity Grammar, who suffered a loss of 0.30 seconds from his former and hit the wall with the timing of 50.91 seconds for bronze medal.
Romeo’s alluring effort placed him slightly ahead of his following rival, Ben Lindsay of Arena, who was just 0.03 seconds slower from him and hit the wall with the timing of 50.94 seconds.
Lindsay was trailed by Nathan Roughley of Cherrybrook, who earned fifth position of the event by posting a time of 51.19 seconds.
In addition, the championship ended after the completion of all swimming events while the winners were given medals and accolades for their gruelling efforts at the medal distribution ceremony of the championship.
