Brittany Elmslie wins Girls 100m butterfly gold: Day four – Australian Age Championships
Brittany Elmslie of Nudgee Brothers conquered gold medal of the Girl’s 100m butterfly in the age group of 17-18 Year Olds on fourth day of the 2012 Australian Age Championships on Thursday, April 12 at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre.
Elmslie remained dominant over her challengers throughout the double lap event as she hit the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 00.04 seconds. Her effort remained Mikka Sheridan of Chandler, who occupied silver medal of the discipline by touching the wall with the time of 1 minute and 00.44 seconds. Jordan White was the third best finisher of the discipline as she posted an effort of 1 minute and 01.23 seconds.
Next was the equivalent event in Boys category, where David Morgan of TSS Aquatics occupied gold medal of the discipline by producing a time of 54.00 seconds. The gold medallist was followed by Cameron McEvoy, who was only 0.06 seconds slower and hit the wall with the timing of 54.06 seconds.
Third spot of the discipline was occupied by Hugo Morris, who tapped the wall with the timing of 54.15 seconds.
The third event of the session was 200m freestyle in Girls 16 Year Olds category, where Brianna Throssell stayed considerably ahead of her challengers and reached the medal rostrum for gold medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 00.01 seconds.
Throssell was trailed by Leah Neale, who stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by posting a time of 2 minutes and 00.50 seconds. Neale was followed by Carla Buchanan, who earned bronze medal of the event with the timing of 2 minutes and 01.54 seconds.
Fourth event of the discipline was secured by Alexander Graham, who won gold medal of the Boys 16 Year Olds 200m freestyle with an effort of 1 minute and 49.84 seconds.
Graham was followed by Regan Leong and Jake Hodgetts, who settled on the finishing wall as second and third position holder with the timing of 1:51.22 and 1:51.85 minutes, respectively.
Furthermore, the championship will continue for two more days to conclude all swimming events in Boys and Girls category.
