Brittany Lang grabs title at Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012
American Brittany Lang displayed a stunning performance in the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012, as she trampled rivals in playoff.
The Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012, played at Waterloo, Canada, turned into a nerve-racking battle in the final round when four players, including Lang, shot an overall 268 each moved into playoff.
The other three players, Hee Kyung SEO, Inbee Park and Chella Choi, failed to grab the opportunity to make good scores in playoff, letting Lang walk away with the coveted title.
The American star, however, displayed a balanced game and did her best on the course. She birdied the 18th hole three times in a row in playoff, defeating her South Korean rivals.
The rising star kicked off the fourth round in an impressive style, as she shot four birdies and avoided making any bogey.  Lang was standing tied for the second spot at the end of the third round, but ramped
up pressure on rivals on the last day, as she made perfect putts on almost all the holes.
With strong winds sweeping through the course all day, the American prodigy appeared to be confident, as she kept her cool in the final moments.
The tournament saw a disruption in the first round when the forecast warned of rough weather conditions. Moreover, a threat of lightening also led the tournament officials to suspend the first round, leaving
most of the players waiting for their turn.
The contenders, who could not start the game on the set schedule, were allowed to start their round in a new time slot.
Speaking to the media about her performance in the event, Lang said that she is extremely happy to win the prestigious tournament, and hopes to do the same in the upcoming matches.
She went on to say that the field was quite strong, and she found it hard to beat her nearest rivals. However, she pointed out that the final moments proved very lucky for her.
“I'm just ecstatic, I can't believe I finally won, and to do it here was good. It's a great venue, nice place and to do it for the inaugural event was very special,” the happy winner said.
“I started out really well. I knew if I made a couple birdies early it'd be a pretty easy day because it's that kind of course”.
