Brittany Lincicome all set for Kingsmill Championship
American Brittany Lincicome, who has been seeking to win an event since her last victory at the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2011, is going to take on rivals at the upcoming Kingsmill Championship 2012 set to start from September 6-9 at Williamsburg, Virginia.
Lincicome is looking to rack up her sixth Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) victory in the 2012 season, but the American star has not been able to surprise her golf crazy fans. However, the Kingsmill Championship is going to provide her with heaps of opportunities to prove her worth.
Officials of the Kingsmill Championship said that the field has been set, with prominent stars gearing up to take on their rivals from September 6.
Some of the key contenders confirmed to play the LPGA event include current world number one Yani Tseng, Paula Creamer, Stacy Lewis, Natalie Gulbis, Michelle Wie, Mindy Kim, Brittany Lang, Laura Diaz, Sandra Gal, Meena Lee, Mindy Kim, Jessica Shepley, Lorie Kane, Ai Miyazato, Jane Park, Mika Miyazato, Na Yeon Choi, Cristie Kerr, Hee Young Park, Gerina Piller, Beatriz Recari, Lizette Salas, Christina Kim and Karin Sjodin.
Although the field is tougher than most of the contenders had anticipated, Lincicome appears to be in high spirits and will try to prove her mettle once again.
Cristie Kerr, who has won two editions of the Kingsmill Championship, is being regarded as the hot favourite for the coveted title. It remains to be seen how Kerr repeats her 2009 performance at Virginia, but her performance in some of the recent tournaments reflects that the American star is ready to do something amazing this time.
Lincicome, who has not been able to win any event in the current season, has her own plans for the looming battle at Virginia. The golfing sensation displayed a stunning performance in the Safeway Classic 2012 as she shot an overall 205 to finish tied for the second position on the leaderboard.
“I like tournaments that start on Friday. It's one less day that I have to concentrate for. Obviously if you've won a four‑day tournament, you've beaten the best players and you've gone through four days,” Lincicome said at the end of the first round of Safeway Classic 2012.
