Brittany Lincicome graces Rotary Sour Mash Memorial
American Brittany Lincicome, who tied for the 18th spot at the US Women’s Open 2012, showed up at the Mid-Ohio Valley on Monday to grace the Rotary Sour Mash Memorial.
The event, held at Parkersburg Country, witnessed Lincicome exhibit her golfing skills in the exhibition match. The American star stunned the spectators by shooting perfect strokes against a foursome of Chad Mildren, Mike Lewis, Ross Draber and Scott Wilson.
Lincicome teamed up with Scott Davidson, a prominent figure on the PGA (Professional Golf Association) Tour.
The duo played well on almost all the holes, but could not defeat the foursome. Lincicome and Davidson shot a 6-under par 67 on the 18 holes, which helped them come close to defeating their opponent team.
The duo finished three shots behind the rivals, but according to commentators, Lincicome and her partner were not unhappy with their performance, as they cheered the spectators and gained plenty of appreciation.
Speaking to the media at the end of the exhibition match, the American prodigy said that she is pretty happy to have an opportunity to play at the prestigious event, and looks forward to coming here again.
Mentioning her game, Lincicome said that she tried to do her best, but she also made a couple of mistakes that hampered her and Davidson from moving ahead. "I was hitting it really well, which was nice - I don't think I missed a fairway until the 18th hole where I tried to hit it really, really hard. That never works, and I know better than that," she said.
The format of the match was best-ball, which Lincicome said was pretty suitable, keeping in view the event.
When asked why she failed to defeat her rivals despite posting a stunning score, the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) titan said that she does not regret what she did on the course. However, she was keen to point out that the greens played havoc to her game.
"I don't want to blame it on the golf course because I think it is a great layout and you have to drive it straight, but the greens were a little bit slower than I was used to," Lincicome said. "The first couple of holes, Ross was the man then Mike kind of took over at the end".
