Brittany Lincicome ready to defend title at CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012
American Brittany Lincicome, who is the defending champion of the CN Canadian Women’s Open, will be gracing the 2012 edition of the prestigious LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) event.
Lincicome, who is a rising star on the LPGA Tour, stunned her fans last year when she carved out a victory at the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2011, against players who were much stronger than her.
The tournament featured most of the top-ranked players, yet the American star displayed a tremendous performance and received plenty of appreciation from the local spectators.
The field for the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 has yet to be completed, but according to the tournament officials, most of the key LPGA stars have confirmed their commitment for the much-hyped tournament.
According to the details announced by CN and Golf Canada, the players who have recently confirmed to star in the tournament, are Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson, Natalie Gulbis and South Korean Na Yeon Choi.
Since Lincicome won the last edition of the tournament, she has already made it to the roster. In addition to that, the current world number one Yani Tseng will also be putting her skills to the test.
Analysts said that the roster is pretty strong, and it is expected that the competition will be tougher this year. On top of the list will be Asian contenders, who are going places these days, and have repeatedly vowed to maintain their upper hand in women’s golf.
On the other hand, American contenders are also expected to put their best feet forward, as analysts pointed out that facing a series of defeats in recent tournaments is proving fatal for their credibility and hard-earned reputation.
Lincicome, as opposed to struggling US contenders, appears to be in a much stronger position. The LPGA giant grabbed a one-stroke victory in the last edition of the tournament.
The American golfer is best known for her talkative behaviour — something she says keeps her motivated on the course.
“They know when I play my best, I'm very chatty. Whether it be with the girls in my group or whether it be the spectators and the crowd, the more I talk, the better I play. So singing just kind of takes my mind off that shot,” the defending champion had said during the last edition of the tournament.
