Brittany Lincicome says 2012 was "erratic" but not "horrible"
American Brittany Lincicome remained winless in the 2012 Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) season, but the star golfer insists her performance was not that “horrible”.
Lincicome had set some lofty goals for LPGA 2012 because she was coming off a strong 2011 season that saw her clinch two victories. Despite having an edge over most of her rivals, Lincicome
failed to pull off a victory.
Still, the American star managed to record six top-ten finishes in the season—something that speaks of her talent.
She displayed a refined performance in most of the tournaments, but the last battle of the season—CME Group Titleholders 2012 saw her in best shape. Lincicome carded an overall score of 277
to take the third position on the leaderboard.
The American golfer made a fiery start to her 2012 campaign as she finished tied for the second position at the ISPS Handa Australian Open—her first tournament of the year. A much solid finish
helped her earn $63,784.
Speaking to the LPGA Tour during her latest interview, Lincicome said that the season was “erratic” in terms of performance. Despite finishing strong in some of the events, she had to deal
with grim performances as well.
“It was middle of the road - not great, but not horrible,” said Lincicome who has won five LPGA tournaments since she joined the Tour back in 2004.
She went on to say that winning was her biggest aim of the 2012 season, but failing to achieve this goal did not hamper her from meeting smaller targets.
“Not very good. I met some of the lower ones but not any of the big goals”.
Short game has been a bit of an issue for the 27-year-old, but she has improved her “driving” in the past few months.
Lincicome said that an improved putting is the key to good performance, and she is working on this area.
“I will probably just practice a lot on my short game - chipping and putting,” she said.
Her performance in the 2011 season was impressive in every sense. She amazed her fans at the ShopRite LPGA Classic 2011, beating South Korean Jiyai Shin and American Cristie Kerr by one stroke.
She then jetted to Canada to take part in the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2011. The four-round tournament saw her grab a one-stroke triumph against LPGA giants, Stacy Lewis and Michelle Wie.
