Brittons Empire to take charge of the Ladbrokes Pall Mall Stakes second semi final at Oxford
The second semi final of the Ladbrokes Pall Mall Stakes has brought together a talented and versatile line-up to race over 450 metres flat at Oxford on Thursday, 14th June. Participating in the £150 contest are Brittons Empire, Hazy Purty, Rio
Torino, Black Silver, Kilmalady Biffo and Farloe Mysterio.
The most promising entry for the race is Brittons Empire, Hades Rocket’s four-year-old black son out of b***h, Velvet Satin.
His attempts during the new season can be easily broken down into two phases, first one that was filled with failures and then the next that saw him bagging two out of the three races that he undertook.
His start of the season marked with three training sessions, the first one at Monmore and the rest at Perry Barr. The distance was for all the three sessions was different but even that much exposure did not help him to claim the race.
He ended second in a 480 metres race at Perry Barr that was won by Boherna Bridge who timed the track distance in 28.76 seconds and led by four lengths. The next four races that came Brittons Empire’s way were failures.
Thinking better of the situation, the trainer, Chris Allsopp trained the four-year-old at Monmore twice over 264 metres. On 10th May he settled the distance in 15.74 seconds and it took him 15.51 seconds to rest the session on 15th
May.
Serving just the purpose that the sessions were meant for, Brittons Empire won the Stadium Bookmakers Sprint on 24th May at Oxford over 250 metres. He concluded the race in 14.83 seconds and led the runner up, Demesne Loopy, by 2 ¾ lengths.
Smoke Fairy ended third while the 5/4 favourite of the race, Power Charge, was the last hound to leave the track.
He landed second in a 450 metres race at Oxford on 31st May which was won by Farneys Mark who was done in 27.00 seconds.
His most recent race and victory was in the Ladbrokes.Com Pall Mall Stakes Heat 1 on 7th June at Oxford over 450 metres. The 3/1 joint favourite raced across the wire in 26.92 seconds and led the track by two lengths.
