Broad determined to improve his batting – Cricket News Update
After a poor year at the crease, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 is keen to improve his form with the bat to restore his credibility as an all-rounder on upcoming tour of India, commencing next month.
“I didn't contribute with the bat as much as I could have done, so that's a real focus for me. I want to put both parts of my game together,” Broad, the T20 skipper of England, told the Daily Express on Tuesday.
“I seem to have gone through my career having runs with the bat or ball, but not together. My next short-term goal is to squeeze both those attributes together,” the right-arm medium pacer went on to add.
The 26-year-old Nottingham seamer has had a good year with the ball so far but his performance with the bat lacked consistency that earns him the credentials of being an all-rounder in the tail. In nine Tests played this year, the gangling
pacer, son of former England skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brian-Christopher-Broad-c48475, picked up 40 wickets at an impressive average of 27.78, while managing just 243 runs with the bat at an unimpressive average of 18.69.
The Poms have not had a prosperous year in terms of Tests. They played 11 five-dayers in 2012, managing to win only three while losing six and drawing the remaining two. Of the four Test series played this year, the Andrew Strauss led
England team won only one series, against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 with a 2-0 margin.
The Three http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, at latter’s backyard. After winning the
home three-match series against Windies 2-0, the then Test No.1 England side lost the three-Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
The 2-0 series defeat at the hands of the Proteas also cost http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 led England side their World No.1 Test status.
“The past year has personally been quite a successful one. But as a team, we didn't have that successful a year,” said Broad.
“I'm lucky to be in the position I'm in, but I'm not satisfied with where I am. You've always got to push for further," the English pacer concluded.
The Poms, under new Test skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 on Thursday, to play four Tests against the Men in Blue, with the first Test commencing at Ahmedabad on November 15.
