Hey.. Just wanted to ask... what is the avergae speed for a broadnband connection. I dunno cuz for some reason, mine is way below the average. Is a transfer rate of 40kbps good for a unlimited download/upload speed?

  1. You can test your personal speed and compare it to others at http://myspeed.visualware.com/

  2. I don't think there is an "average speed" for broadband. It all depends on your cable company and what they "guarantee."

    40 kbps is slow.

  3. uhmm i have dial up

and the speed is 52.0 kpbs right now...

  4. depends where you are, if you are in europe or japan(and probably america) i would say that its incredibly slow, however here it new zealand that would be in the upper bracket for unlimited broadband, i dont think ive ever seen a down speed above 100KB outside of the city.

  5. My router shows 5,100 kbps combined incoming/outgoing speed right now.

    Broadband Link

    Connection Speed:

    • Incoming: 4592 kbps

    • Outgoing: 508 kbps

  6. Average speed for broadband is anywhere from 512 kbs to 5 mbs  and 40 Kbs is not that bad i have  60 Kbs and im not complaining, overtime ISP's usually increase thyre speed of your internet when competition arrives or new technology exists.

  7. DSL broadband- Download is 1.2mb

                                   upload is 256kb

Broadband like Comcast- download is 3mb-5mb

Well the speed of an upload deteriates after a few minutes to 40kb per second but  I never understood that.
