Brock Lesnar to defend his UFC Heavyweight title against Cain Velasquez
In less than three weeks from now we will get to see two really massive mixed martial artists bring the fight to one another at the Ultimate Fighting Championship. It will be the hulk-Brock, current undisputed UFC Heavy Weight Champion, who will defend his
title against the undefeated knockout prince, Cain Velasquez.
It is probably the most anticipated MMA fight of 2010 as both fighters are almost equally skilled and powerful. However, Lesnar-the bull has a 10kg weight benefit over his challenger and also a 2-inch height advantage going into the fight.
Brock Lesnar is a genuine and natural wrestler to begin with. He is a truly endowed complete combatant who possesses a great and somewhat ideal balance between total strength and sporting virtues. His gigantic body structure along with his ever improving
quickness makes him a deadly opponent to face.
On the other hand, Velasquez was a wrestling star in college as well. But as soon as he was over with the college, he joined AKA-American Kick Boxing Academy-in San Jose. Currently, it is one of the most famous and renowned fighting academies in the United
States.
Some of the greatest MMA fighters have trained at AKA which include Frank Shamrock, the past UFC champion who was the leading U.S. fighter of the late 90s and also brother of the UFC legend, Ken Shamrock.
Cain-the unrivalled-Velasquez has plenty of wrestling experience. He started his mixed martial arts career by mainly specializing in the art of Jiu-Jitsu. In this Mortal Art, Velasquez learned the skills of close distance battling with other fighters while
another important aspect of jiu-jitsu, ground fighting and tap out techniques.
Hence, Cain is a specialist when it comes to executing submission chokes and deadly locks. The art was mainly developed for people of smaller size to learn how to successfully battle against those that were much larger than them. But Velasquez already is
a heavy weight, so he becomes a mighty force once he includes his submission and ground game into his contests.
As for Brock-the rock, he continued improving his wrestling talent after college as well. He has earned a great wrestling record, winning many awards in Professional Wrestling at the international level. He began wrestling in college while also winning numerous
awards and continued receiving medals even in his Pro-wrestling tenure.
Lesnar usually gives the impression that he isn't much intelligent. The fighter, however, has become much more seasoned in mixed martial arts. The Hulk has learned how to be patient and combine his wondrous talents.
He proved it when he beat UFC Hall of Fame great, The Natural Randy Couture and became the UFC Heavy Weight Champ. Randy was and still is considered to be the most complete mixed martial artist, the world has ever seen. Hence, defeating him earned Lesnar
respect and recognition unlike he had ever before. Though even as a champion, he remains that bad guy you just can’t help to love.
Another improvement in Lesnar's fight plan is the mental aspect of MMA. He knows how to mentally wear down his opponents. Brock Lesnar, with time, has become an unstoppable force. He has learnt that being massive in size is a skill in itself and not many
fighters today can use their immense size with the agility that he can. So, his athleticism when put together with his sheer power results in total destruction of any challenger.
Will Cain Velasquez be ready for that? Velasquez has so far never lost in his MMA career, winning 8 out of his 8 battles. Furthermore, the motivational aspect of his wins is the fact that he has won 7 of them by punching his counterparts out, thus winning
by complete knockouts.
Therefore, he deserves to be the top contender for the title. More important is the style, he will apply fighting against the beast Brock. Cain is equally comfortable with fighting standing up and also lethal if the fight goes to the ground.
When it comes to the stand up game, he is known for his tremendous knockout strength. In the event of the fight going to the ground, his Jiu-jitsu background comes into play. He is also known for his total speed around the octagon.
Velasquez is also a submission specialist. We have seen Frank Mir beat Brock Lesnar by a knee lock, resulting in Lesnar tapping out. So, he might want to take the game on the ground.
One thing is for certain, neither fighter will back down. There will be no wasting of time before both literally explode on each other. It is the feud that the entire MMA world along with their fans will be watching. It will be a historical night for the
UFC.
The countdown has already begun for October 23rd, 2010. Two giant fighters with tons of talent, animal like power and legendary skills will go head to head for the UFC Heavy Weight Title. Almost anything could happen!
