Brockton Boxers boys volleyball team defeats Boston College High School by 3-1

The Brockton Boxers boys volleyball team was successful in defeating the Boston College High School on Friday.
The two teams met each other in the first round of the volleyball tournament that took place at Staff Gym. The match went on to four long and thrilling sets at the end of which the Boxers secured themselves a seat for the next match in Newton against Newton
North by 3-1.
It was the first time that the Boxers were making an appearance in any tournament.
Therefore, they celebrated their hard-earned victory with a lot of enthusiasm and cheer. While the Boxers were screaming their throats sore, the Eagles started making their way out of the court with heads hung low. In the backdrop of all this commotion,
the scoreboard showed the following final set scores that cut the story of the night short, 17-25, 25-14, 26-24 and 25-19.
With their recent win, the seventh ranked Boxers have been able to improve their overall number of season wins to a figure of 12. These victories have been bagged at the cost of suffering losses that amount to be seven in all.
As opposed to the performance statistics of the Boxers, the tenth ranked Eagles have not been able to come up with an equally admirable record. The number of wins that the Eagles have tallied in this season so far total to be eight. These victories have
been accomplished at the cost of undergoing losses that total to be nine in all.
The first set of the game started with the Eagles taking the lead early on. Once they had the lead, the Eagles kept on building the pressure on the Boxers who could not do much to neutralise it. As a result, the first set of the game was bagged by the Eagles
at 25-17.
After losing at such a margin to the Eagles, the Boxers started the second game determined to give their opponents some tough competition. They proved to be successful in challenging the Eagles. When the second set had reached its finish, the Boxers had
won it by making a quick job out of it at 25-14.
The third set was the most intense of all but the Boxers were able to bag it at 26-24. With two sets already under their bag, the Boxers managed a fourth set win at 25-19 as well.
Jack Olson, the coach of the Boxers made the following comments after the match had reached its close, “The biggest thing about volleyball this season is the parity in the sport. When you have a 10th seed and a seventh seed and there is not that much difference
like tonight, it says a lot for the sport. We were concerned before the match...We knew they could play and we didn’t the first game.”
