so i went to the beach, and i guess a bag was in the way when i shut the trunk closed. now i think the lock is broken. if you own a passat, you know i'm not worried about the trunk opening, it stays shut w/o having to be locked, but anyone can come around and open it! i'm afraid someone will hop in and wait til i get home and try something (im very paranoid).

does anyone have any experience with this problem on a 01' passat? or any price estimates to get it fixed? no one at any shops can give me a good estimate and i'd rather fix it myself anyway.

thanks a lot! <3

  1. www.discountvdubparts.com       hope this is of some use.

  2. I had to replace my latch on my Jetta.  I was having trouble with it not locking occasionally, and finally the springs broke.  Looked at junkyards for a used one, but had to buy a new one.  Unbolted the old one and put the new one on and it worked.  It cost about $100 for the new latch.  You may want to try some lubricant first to see if the latch is just not acting properly.

    Good Luck!

By the way, you not paranoid!  Your just protecting your possessions that you worked hard for that some scumbag thinks he/she is entitled to by violating your safety and security!!!
