Question:

Broken LCD screen on camera...should I just buy a new camera?

I have a Fuji finepix s700. I accidentally dropped the camera a few months ago and now the LCD screen is cracked, which means I only can take and view photos via the viewfinder. I really want to fix the broken screen somehow. I've heard that I would be better off buying a new camera since repairs would cost half or more than half the cost of the camera. Or does anyone know of a place where they would repair the LCD screen for an affordable price? I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Thanks!

  1. This camera can be purchased new for $150, you could spend that much on repairs (cost of repair, driving both ways to deliver and pick up).

  2. The LCD screen is one of the most expensive parts of a camera. Only costing about half to repair or replace is an affordable price. Bear in mind, it's not just the cost of the LCD screen, but labor as well. Your camera has a view finder, that's all cameras used to have. Sadly, you are better off loking for a new camera if you must have the LCD.
