Question:

Broken Lantus Cartridge?

I dropped my lantus cartridge 5 days ago and notice that it's cracked and leaking. As a result, my sugar levels have been really high. I've replaced the old lantus cartridge with a new one last night but my sugar levels are still high.

What exactly are the effects of a cracked insulin cartridge on your blood sugar levels and how long will it take for the blood sugar levels to come back to normal after I've changed the old cartridge to a new one?

  1. Ok wel obviously, if your cartridge was cracked and leaking, than you proabably weren't receiving all of the insulin that your body needed. As far as your blood sugar going back down, it will probably take about a day or two to get them back to normal. It it doesn't go down, I would contact your doctor and tell him the situation. He may need to increase the units of insulin that you're taking. Hope this helps!!
