Broken Lever on the canon ae-1?

Question

I belive its the thing behind the shutter speed selector..but im not sure. It is the lever that you pull when you put the film in the camera...it wont let me pull it back very far at all...is it broken, do i have it on the wrong setting...what do i do?

Sounds like the shutter is ready to be released. Try that. If the shutter won't release, you may be at the end of the film. Press the film rewind button and rewind the film. If the battery is dead the shutter won't release.
