Broken Pioneer plasma?

I took the back off my 1yr old Pioneer plasma to clean it with a can of air (told on another site you get better sound / pictures if you keep dust out of tv's, amps etc) anyway when I switched it back on something went bang, I think it was a capacitor and with the help from a mate we have changed this it is nearly the same but it does have a higher kvdc number on the side whatever that means and now the tv is making a noise like when you pop bubble wrap should I change the capacitor again? We have no knowlege of tv's etc so please explain what we need to do.

  1. You PROBABLY put the capacitor in backwards...they are polarized like a battery is....

And don't you REGRET taking the advice of some strange website? And some guy who THINKS a cleaning IMPROVES sound and Picture?

How can it? You can't blow the dust out of an electrical signal !

  2. Hello,

(ANS) The problem you have is a bit difficult because your dammed if you do & dammed if you don't (between a rock & a hard place).

No.1 Is your Pioneer Plasma TV still within the makers warranty? secondly, do you have or have you paid out for an extended warranty protection? If the answer is YES! then your in luck and you can probably get the TV repaired by the manufacturer.

**Most electronic equipment these days only tends to have a fairly specific & limited 1 year makers warranty, some companies do give a 2 or 3 year warranty if your lucky. Varies from company to company.

No.2 Most Plasma TV's are made using integrated electronic circuitry ( they have inside what is in effect a computer motherbaord or a large system board). Such TV's are NOT designed to be opened despite your good intentions. Opening the TV and exposing the inside workings has probably already broken any remaining makers warranty at a guess.

**My advise is DON'T TRY TO FIX THIS YOURSELF!! you could make matters worse and even damage the TV for ever.

No.3 I would 100% advise you contact the TV makers and ask their advise as to how to proceed from here on in. If as you say its a single simple resistor or duff capacitor then it shouldn't cost to much to replace and if its done by an experienced TV electronics engineer then you'll have a good working screen once again.

No.4 If the TV is out of the initial 12mth warranty and if you have a home insurance policy? it "might" just be covered for repair under your household cover? its worth exploring that possibility.

  3. Ignore the prat

  4. ignore him people, hes a complete troll.

Look at his question history, he claims he owns countless plams, lcd and projection TVs.

He even forgets his own stories, one day buying a sony, the next its a Philips, then  a pioneer.....

I've no clue why he thinks its entertaining.
