In the picture the chip has been removed so i could get a better view of the traces to be repaired.

The traces were severed at the chip's base down into the PCB so in order to reconnect the lines I had to remove the chip. The chip is a surface mount chip and the board is just a double sided board not a multilayer. Can i simply use a conductive pen to reconnect the lines and then heat the ink up to connect the chip to it or can you not solder the ink from the conductive pen?? I'm using a 15 watt presion soldering iron. If there is something easier to do so that I can reconnect those lines and remount the chip please fill me in.....the chip still has prongs on it so it is in good health.

  1. Cheers! So you were able to remove the chip.

You need very thin wires and thin solder leads to do it. Just bypass the traces.
