Broken ankle sidelines Bengals’ guard Bobbie Williams for the season – NFL News
An ankle injury has forced Cincinnati Bengals guard Bobbie Williams to be on the sideline for a period of a year atleast.
The player is now expected to be back to Bengals side with the start of next National Football League (NFL) season (2012). He is also likely to stay out of the team's training camp which begins in April next year.
The team management confirmed that the player had been placed on the injured reserve (IR) list after confirmation of his injury with no hopes for his return this season.
Reports of his ousting for rest of the current football season came after the latest test on his injured ankle showed that the player had broken his right ankle and therefore will be unable to play the game for next 12 months minimum.
Williams was injured in Bengals' game against the Houston Texans on past Sunday. He has not played or taken part in a practice session since. The Bengals had lost that game 19-20, ruining their chances for a wild card berth in
playoff.
While reporting the placement of the injured Williams on IR list since past Monday, the Bengals said that they had promoted their guard no. 2 Otis Hudson on their active roster. He earlier was on Bengals practice squad. He is expected
to replace Bobbie for rest of the current regular season.
The ousting of Williams is expected to aggravate problems for the Bengals on starting position on the right side. The team has become thin on the starting position given the reason that its second starter on the side Andre Smith
has already missed their last game due to an ankle injury. It is not clear yet that he will be fit to join Texans squad for their next game on Sunday.
This is for the second time this season that Williams will be out of Bengals side for a game and more. He had already been suspended for four games earlier this season for having been found guilty of violating NFL anti-doping policy.
He said that he had taken a drug on the counter which was found to be banned by the NFL.
Bobbie Williams is into 12 years of playing the American professional football league. He had been their starter since 2004, and it is first time that the side will be without him.
