Broken bone...?

I have a broken Scaphoid bone (wrist) and don't have it in a cast as it has broken once before and i know what it feels like as i did it in practice about 3 days ago. My wrist was pretty swollen and still is a bit. I have a match tomorrow and havn't informed the coach as i really want to play. It obviously hurts but do you think strapping it up for the duration of the match would be okay? Then going to the doc afterwards?

  1. What position do you play?  Some positions you will probably not suffer much if you just tape it up and play.  And if it's just a fracture and not flat out broken it shouldn't be too bad...

But what are you going to say to your coach when he asks why you're all bandaged up?

I dunno mate, I've done it before and it gets worse.  Maybe you should just go to the doc and miss your match tomorrow...

  2. If you really intend on playing with it hurt, then tape it up really good. have your hand included on the tape job and ensure your wrist is immobilized. aftrewards, go see the doctor.

just be sure you don't tip off the trainer/physio taping you up, or your coach may not let your kit up.

    good luck.

  3. i think if you can stop the pain i would go for it, you can tape it up and drug urself lol but it does hurt as i have done it with 4 of my fingers

  4. Get it checked out before you do anything.  I buggered up my left wrist about a year and a half ago in the middle of a match and finished it out. Cost me 9 months out and 2 surgeries to get back to where I could start again.
