Question:

Broken dongle still works...but is it safe? ?

My Belkin dongle was a bit wobbly and one day my bro stepped on it, needless to say it broke off, leaving just a little bit of metal and the usb still in the comp...

is it safe to still use it without the plastic stuff around it? kinda looks dangerous but it still works (using it atm). Anyone else had issues with Belkin dongles?

  1. It's nothing to worry about, it doesn't have a high enough power usage to give you any serious shocks. Don't expect it to last that long though.

  2. USB connections only carry five volts and are designed for robustness - I wouldn't store anything I care about on the dongle (without the case, there's a very high chance it will fail early), but I wouldn't expect there to be any particular risk to you, using it.

  3. I would assume that it would be safe to use, There shouldnt be any high voltage currents in use with the dongle. The worst shock you would probably recieve is a little tingle should you come into contact with a current.
