My fridgefreezer iz broken its 6 months old and has a 12 month guarentee i bought it from comet. I told comet and two days later an engineer came out and said the compressor was broken and would have to be ordered and usually takes a week this was friday, the following friday i rung the company to find out if they were coming that day and was told the part was on order but hadnt come in yet and i would be informed when it was, its now in total from me informing them 11 days that iv had a broken fridgefreezer which is a total pain. How long can they legally take to fix it and leave me without a working fridgefreezer ?

  1. the law states that they have to fix it in a "reasonable" amount of time.

There is no definiton of reasonable though. You'd have to take comet to court and argue out what reasonable was.

  2. Let the engineer get his teeth into this problem as the question is in dental

  3. err isn't this suppose to be dental?

  4. Give them a time limit ,and say i shall get this F/f transported back to your shop,,, that usually hurries them up Good Luck ,

  5. Phone them and say "you have forty eight hours to fix my bloody fridge before i come to your shop and help myself to another".

  6. Phone Consumers Direct - they will tell you exactly what the law is - they will also tell you what you can legally say to Comet - there will be a reference made with them - so if you don't get any joy with Comet then you can go back to them and they will tell you what legal steps to take - but usually after first phone call to them there's normally no need - best of luck - hope this helps
