Question:

Broken nose, boxing class

im signed up to take a boxing class at my college this semester. i dont really want to take up a career with boxing just thought it would be a fun elective class. its a begginers class,so the coach/teacher expects you to have no prior boxing knowledge. im excited for this class, but the thing is i played basketball for a long time and had my nose broken severly three times (see rick hamilton lol).

doc says if its broken again they will have to do reconstructive surgery... i really dont want to pay for that.

so should i drop this class or will i get good protection for my nose in this beggining boxing class? all the class info says is that we dont actually put on gloves/fight till half way through the class.

help is really appreciated, thanks.

  1. You can tell them your situation. You don't have to spar. If there is sparring in the class they should have full caged headgear (a bar runs across the headgear to protect your nose).

  2. Yeah, When you box theres a risk of getting injured, Nose is probly one of them. I wouldn't reccomend u box because your nose is probly not as strong right now so it will break easily. Because there are high chances of gettin hit in the nose. Theres not really any protection other then the gloves.

  3. Bottom line, "HEALTH IS WEALTH."

  4. your not a f*cking pit bull you dont have to spar if you dont want too. just tell them your situation.
