Question:

Broken pool!?

We have an above ground pool and one part of it has rusted away a little bit and has a big bulge in it.

So we pumped all the water out of it so it wouldn't totally burst.

Everything else is in good condition.

We called the pool shop but there's nothing they can do, all they suggested is that it might be possible to fix it with a sheet of colourbond.

Has anyone heard of anyone doing this, how did it work for them?

Tricky question I know!

DIY website would be great but I can't find anything!

Really want to get it fixed for our kiddies before summer...

  1. If the rusted hole is on the side wall  metal panel. and the integrity of the metal all around the hole is still good, you can use a sheet of galvanized 26 gage sheet metal, Take some metal sheers and cut a flat patch larger than the hole. around the outside of the patch drill a predetermined hole for pop rivets. a pop rivet gun and a hand full of pop rivets can be do the trick. Ask your hardware store man how to use the simple inexpensive pop rivets. drill holes a few inches apart around the outside of your patch and through the existing side wall. In each hole snap pop in a pop rivet. be sure to test to see which side of the pop rivet is the smooth side by using a practice hole on a scrap piece of metal.

    Good luck
