Question:

Broken "Banjo String"

Oh my...

So, there's a first time for everything and this is the first time ever a GUY bled whilst getting down and dirty with me.

It's my current partner and he has told me he split the connecting tissue from his f******n to his p***s once before (not through penetrational s*x but through dry humping) and I thought nothing of it...until I came off him and there was blood EVERYWHERE.

I thought it was me but my pill has disabled me to have periods (yay!) but he knew very quikcly it was him when he felt a little bit of pain and a little faint at the sight of his own blood.

I was bloody scared! Didn't know what to do but there was very little that I could do.

What I want to ask is "Is this a common injury with men?" and "What do I do to prevent it next time?"

I'm so scared, I told him we have to lay off for 3 months...as difficult as it will be but he said it will be fine. Will it?

  1. It sounds like he tore your frenulum (see link).  There's an artery that runs under the frenulum, so when torn, it bleeds a lot.  There are a few things he can do.

If at all possible, he should avoid moving his f******n as much as possible (so no s*x and no masturbating).  The only time he should retract his f******n is during a shower/bath when he's going to clean underneath.  It might be a good idea not to use soap when doing this.  When he's done, he can gently pull back his f******n and dry the area carefully with a towel.  Then apply an antimicrobial cream such as Neosporin.  He can apply this antimicrobial cream 2-3 times a day if he wishes.  If he wants, he can put a small band-aid on the area to prevent it from moving around even more (if the band-aid's small enough).

It should heal in about 2 weeks.  Until it fully heals, he should be sure to abstain from moving the f******n as much as possible.  It should heal pretty quickly.  The next time you have s*x with him though, it might be a good idea to use a little extra lube and for him to go a bit gentler.

If things don't seem to improve in 2 weeks, it's a really good idea for him to see his doctor then.  I hope this helps!

  2. Ouch that sounds painful! Just make sure he keeps teh wound clean to prevent infection it should heal up. But you say you are on the pill and just to let you know, I was on it for years and seriously the side effect of lowering your s*x drive was very true for me....

  3. Bahaaa

  4. Next time make sure your really wet, and take it easy on the poor boy!

  5. common enough , it will heel up soon , and will not happen again , as it will heal up in the broken position

  6. It has been known to happen.  For those who it happens to frequently, a doctor will usually recommend that a semi-circumcision be performed.

Best for your man to see a Doc.

  7. It will grow back looking like a kiwi fruit.

  8. It's not unheard of, though I might be alarmed as well if there was as much blood as you say.

If it's from his f******n, it should heal completely within a month, if not sooner.  No need to hang him out to dry for 3 whole months unless you're upset with him about something else. ;)

  9. Don't worry, your boyfriend may have a short frenulum (aka "banjo string") which caused the split. Allow plenty of time for it to heal, and next time avoid aggressive hard s*x and maybe try using some lube.

After he showers he could put moisturising cream on the frenulum and gently pull the f******n back to stretch the skin.

Most guys whose frenulums split never split again because the scarred tissue becomes stronger, so this hopefully won't happen again.

If your boyfriend is comfortable with visiting his doctor about this, then he should, just to be safe.

  10. I think this is quite common, especially as its happened to him before the tissue may be weakened slightly.  I wouldn't worry about it too much, just give him time to heal and try and take it a little more gentley lol!!!!!

  11. Never heard of it in my life, it is not fine. He must see the doctor, it could be some thing connected to the kidney or else. Avoid s*x with him for some time untill his blood is tested for sexually transmitted diseases. It is for the sake of both of you.

  12. yowchhh!!!!

  13. Its happend with me and my partner.. you just need to let it repair itself.. maybe 2-3 weeks and not 3 months haha! But if thats what you want.

  14. Yes, that is the frenulum that connects the f******n, and some men have short ones that snap easily, especially if you are rough.  It has happened a few times to my husband.  Everytime we took it easy, applied some antibiotic ointment and waited it out. ( If you avoid intercourse, you can use your hand (and mouth) and be gentle with him. ) Finally, we went to to see a doctor and he cauterized it with some special spray and it has never bothered him since.

  15. It is called a frenulum and yes, sometimes they can tear. A circumcised guy usually has all of his frenulum removed during the surgery but the frenulum is actually a point of stimulation. An uncut guy, like your dude isobviously intact the way nature made him, including his frenulum.

Some guys have torn their frenulum once... and that never happens again. Other guys tear it and it heals itself in a way that exposes it to future risk of tearing... that's your dude. It may never happen to him again now though.

A specialist doctor can do an inspection and with a nick of a blade make sure it doesn't happen again... but hey.. that's pretty drastic!

It may never happen to him again so just chillaxe!
