Bronte Campbell and Rachel Kelly secure gold medals: 2011 FINA World Junior Championships - Day five
Bronte Campbell and Rachel Kelly put forward their best attempts on day five of the 2011 FINA World Junior Championships in Lima, Peru, on Saturday, August 20. The session of the meet conducted Women’s 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly finals.
In the Women’s 50m freestyle final heat, Bronte Campbell of Australia captured the golden crown on the podium by posting a matchless time of 25.28 seconds. United States’ Lia Neal took home the silver medal of the platform by submitting an impressive time
of 25.39 seconds, while Landeghem Van of Canada earned bronze medal on the podium by posting an impressive time of 25.58 seconds.
In the corresponding swim Nadiya Koba of Ukraine earned fourth place honours with a time of 25.60 seconds and Kristen Vredeveld of United States of America rounded out the top five in a time of 25.72 seconds. Beryl Gastaldello of France was placed sixth
in a time of 25.92 seconds, while Carolina Bergamaschi of Brazil picked seventh spot with a time of 26.08 seconds.
Mao Kawakami of Japan settled eighth with a time of 26.12 seconds. Additionally, Ylenia Sciarrini of Italy wound up ninth in a time of 26.17 seconds and Brianna Throssell of Australia was placed tenth in a time of 26.19 seconds.
Meanwhile, the Women’s 100m butterfly title was clinched by Rachel Kelly of Great Britain with a winning mark of 59.62 seconds. Alexandra Wenk of Germany earned silver medal on the podium with an intriguing mark of 59.73 seconds, while Rino Hosoda of Japan
took home the bronze medal of the platform by posting a matchless time of 59.75 seconds.
In the corresponding splash, Sorribes Ignacio of Spain wound up fourth with an impressive time of 59.81 seconds and Vanessa Mohr of South Africa earned fifth place honours with a time of 59.87 seconds. Noemie Thomas of Canada was placed sixth in a time of
59.93 seconds, while Kendyl Stewart of United States of America settled seventh in 1 minute and 00.02 seconds.
Justine Bruno of France earned eighth position with a mark of 1 minute and 00.80 seconds. Moreover, Celina Li of United States of America was placed ninth in a time of 1 minute and 01.14 seconds and Svetlana Chimrova of Russia wound up tenth in the respective
meet with a time of 1 minute and 01.20 seconds.
