Brooklyn Nets close in on possible four team trade for Dwight Howard – NBA News
The drama involving the trade of Dwight Howard continues to unfold with only one day remaining till the league moratorium is lifted. And, not surprisingly, the Brooklyn Nets seem to be getting closer to landing Howard in a 10 man
- 4 team trade that is being currently proposed.
The Nets have been after Howard for a while now and their efforts intensified after they were able to land Deron Williams. It now seems like they just might be able to pair Williams, Joe Johnson and Gerald Wallace with Howard for
a super team.
The Nets are attempting the four team trade with the help of the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Clippers. According to the scenario presently under discussion, the Nets are looking to receive Dwight Howard, Jason Richardson,
Chris Duhon and Earl Clark and the Magic would get Brook Lopez, Luke Walton, Damion James, Shelden Williams and Armon Johnson in return, plus two first round picks from the Nets and a lottery protected first round pick from the Clippers.
The Cleveland Cavaliers would receive Kris Humphries, Quentin Richardson, Sundiata Gaines, a first round pick from the Nets and $3 million in cash. The Clippers would receive second year shooting guard Marshon Brooks in the deal.
ESPN The Magazine’s Ric Bucher reports that the Charlotte Bobcats could also become a party in the deal if the Cavaliers do not agree. The Bobcats are interested in Humphries and willing to trade for him. The deal is a long stretch
involving 6 players to give the green light for sign and trade agreements.
The Brooklyn Nets offered a similar three team deal to the Cavaliers a few weeks ago, before Orlando hired new General Manager Rob Hennigan. However, the Magic declined the offer at that time.
The Orlando Magic seem to be running out of options and this looks like the closest shot they have of trading Howard and receiving some pieces with which to build the new team. Howard has categorically stated that he does not want
to play for the Magic next season so keeping him is not in the best interest of both the player and the team.
