Brooklyn Nets interested in free agent forward Andray Blatche – NBA Update
Andray Blatche was waived off by the Washington Wizards via the amnesty clause early this off season and about two weeks ago, the player had made what seemed like a desperate plea to get back on court, even if it required him to
play in the D-League.
However, one major team seems to be interested in the 26 year old according to a recent report from the New York Times, who say that Brooklyn Nets are considering bringing Blatche into their rotation.
Blatche met the Nets coach Avery Johnson over the weekend, but no confirmation of any signing has come forth and it is still unclear whether the Nets are definitely making an offer or are just keeping him in the loop while they
consider other options as well.
The 7 years Blatche has spent in the NBA have been rather unsuccessful and Wizards wanted no part of a player who has been involved in several arrests and other disciplinary violations like punching team-mates and arguing with
coaches. They paid $23 million to waive him off.
The player was not picked off the waivers by any team, and although he has been linked with the likes of Miami Heat, there has been nothing concrete. With uncertainty lurking over his future, Blatche now wants a new chapter in
his professional life but has been unsuccessful so far in finding another offer.
If the Nets are genuinely interested in adding Blatche into their ranks, he can play a reserve role on a team full of veterans. The offer works in favour of Blatche as he would be required to play a secondary role and not many
expectations would be laid upon his shoulders. He would be joining a front court which already has Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, Reggie Evans and Gerald Wallace.
However nothing is for sure at the moment as there are other options in the free agent market for the Nets to consider with the likes of Kenyon Martin, Anthony Tolliver, Ivan Johnson and Chris Andersen also looking for suitable
offers before they sign up with any team.
