Brooklyn Nets launch “Hello Brooklyn” marketing campaign – NBA News
Now that the roster of the Brooklyn Nets is sorted and there are some big names to be excited about, the team management has started a full out marketing campaign with the label of “Hello Brooklyn”.
The idea behind the campaign is to introduce the core players of the Nets team to the fans of the Brooklyn area, so that they develop a sense of ownership and loyalty towards the players and team before the Nets kick off their
season at the newly built $1 billion Barclays Arena.
The campaign started with advertisements of Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez and Gerald Wallace in different parts of the Brooklyn borough.
"We are delighted to continue building a connection between Brooklynites and the players on their new home team. This phase of the 'Hello Brooklyn' campaign is a creative way for the players to share something about themselves
in advance of their debut at Barclays Center this fall,” said  Nets CEO Brett Yormark.
The campaign is all set to gain intensity as time passes and will include digital and social media components as well, critical in today’s age of information technology. The “Hello Brooklyn” marketing campaign is the second component
of a three phase marketing campaign that is to be unveiled before the team begins playing in the Barclays Center. The campaign was initiated on April 30th, when the team unveiled a new logo and new uniforms.
"Our goal is to own Brooklyn. We want to turn the Brooklyn Nets into a global brand, so it's not just in the tri-state area, but it's globally and internationally,” said Nets Chief Marketing Officer Fred Mangione.
The dawn of the Nets on the New York basketball scene is giving rise to what is expected to be one of the greatest sports rivalries, between the New York Knicks and the Nets. Both teams will be fighting for the loyalty and support
of the New York fans.
The Nets have placed particular importance to their arrival in Brooklyn, with a five star arena awaiting the team. They then went on a spending frenzy to prepare one of the best rosters in the NBA at present. And now they are building
hype around the team that will eventually lead to them opening the 2012-2013 campaign with the first game for the Brooklyn Nets in October.
